The Tractors

Tony has a substantial collection of old farm machinery which includes ten tractors and his latest acquisition some fifteen months ago, is one of the two Nuffield tractors that The Tractor Guys will be using.

The second tractor has been loaned by Neil Cooke a close friend of Tony’s who has a similar collection.

Nuffield tractors were the UK’s answer to a pressing post war need in preference to North American imports and it also coincided with the demise of the draught horse.

The Nuffield tractor story started in early 1945. The British government, still reeling from the effects of the war on the economy, approached the Nuffield organization to see if they would design and build an "ALL NEW" British built wheeled tractor, suitable for both British and world farming.

Although the models being driven are from the early 60s they are based on an original 1940s design.

For a comprehensive history of the Nuffield tractor visit Yesterday's Tractor Co.

One of the tractors is being fitted with GPS tracking equipment kindly loaned by Topcon UK so you can follow The Tractor Guy's progress evey inch of the way.
