Well you wouldn’t expect the whole thing to go without a hitch now would you?

Turns out that yesterday Tone’s fan-belt went just an hour from their destination. They decided to carry on and finally managed to get to Alan and Alison Wilson’s place – and with Alan being a contactor he had his mechanics on the job first thing in the morning and the problem was solved!

Once again Bish and Tones have been overwhelmed by the hospitality they’ve received in Scotland. They’ve been treated like royalty they say and have met the loveliest people ever.

Caithness Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club have presented them with a cheque for £100.

On the way to Inverness they touched base with James Williamson who’s just ridden a vintage tractor from Land’s End all the up to John O’Groats in aid of charity! It was a great chance to admire tractors and compare notes!

Then another little hiccough – when the guy’s realised that Bish’s tractor was leaking from the radiator. They bought a length of hose but as they were only 30 miles away from their destination they decided to try to make it.

As it happened they came across a lay-by full of tractors outside a workshop and the guy at the workshop sorted the problem for them at the roadside!

Bish says the scenery is staggering – they’re travelling towards the Cairngorms – which are still topped with snow – but the sky is cloudless and the sun is shining.

Before sundown Bish and Tones enjoyed a BBQ on the banks of Lock Insh and enjoyed a moment of tranquillity watching ospreys in a nest on an island in the loch.

They say the hospitality from day one has been immense and the scenery is awesome!

This evening they’re staying at a delightful guest house beside the River Spay owned by Fiona and Guy Johnston.
