The Tractor Guys were regally looked after at the home of Hugh and Lindsey Pendray. This morning they enjoyed breakfast looking out across the Pendray’s garden where Bish says you could see almost every type of garden bird from siskins to goldfinches. Hugh Pendray, incidentally, is a member of the Rotary Club of Liskeard & Looe who has taken several fire engines over to Kosovo where they’ve been put to very good use.

Setting off this morning, Bish and Tones’ main concern was for the tyre on Bish’s tractor which had played them up yesterday. They pumped it up one more time during the morning and after that everything was fine for the remainder of the day.

They rolled through the hills of Cornwall and found that they were continually travelling up or down and no stretch of road was ever flat. Added to that was the number of bends – “more bends than a barley-twist sugar” Bish said. However, there were also some great stretches of dual carriageway which allowed them to make up time. The weather was a bit wet but not too bad and by the time they reached Land’s End at 3.20pm it had turned into a lovely day!

Friends and family were all there to greet them and to hold a ribbon between two tractors that flanked the finishing line. It was an emotional moment, with both Bish and Tones feeling elated at having completed their journey and so pleased to see their friends and family waiting for them.

In a way it was difficult to believe that it was all over. There were moments when the rain was tippling down on top of them that they felt as though their trip was never going to end – but now they’re at Land’s End where they can relax and recall the highlights and the dramas of their trip. They’ve achieved everything that they set out to achieve. They certainly had difficulties along the way which tested their resolve and when one of the tractors let them down, they could so easily have given up. But they found a way around every problem and with a little help from some very generous people that they met along the way, they have now completed their journey, raising lots of money for Diabetes UK and having the adventure of a lifetime along the way.

After completing their journey, they enjoyed the view of a very tranquil sea at Land’s End and they also enjoyed a well earned pint of beer! This evening they plan to open the bottle of Old Pulteney 12 year old malt whisky, that was given to them by Andrew McCae at the beginning of their journey. It was distilled in Wick at the Old Pulteney Distillery which is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainlands and will be drunk at the most southerly tip of the British Isles! A fitting way to end the journey. Here's to The Tractor Guys! And don’t forget – if you’ve enjoyed following their journey through this blog – it’s not to late to make a donation at www.justgiving.com/thetractorguys
