After spending the night in Wedmore, Somerset, Monday began with an interview on BBC Radio Somerset with presenter Jess Rudkin which The Tractor Guys thoroughly enjoyed and they got to plug the donations webpage www.justgiving.com/thetractorguys

After that they were on the road by 9.30am. The weather threatened rain all day long and although there were no heavy downpours today, there was constant light rain – Bish said his specs were covered in rain all day! Due to the higher vantage point on the tractors, you can see just how much the roads undulate through the counties of Somerset and Devon. The constantly winding 'A' roads also leave very few places to over-take and the guys followed mile after mile of double white lines. The pulled in frequently to let motorists pass.

Through Taunton, traffic wasn’t a major problem, and as they headed out into the countryside again they came across some extremely pretty views. These counties are full of little nooks and crannies that can only be glimpsed at in the distance; glimpses of pastoral secrets that would have to be discovered on another occasion.

They passed through Crediton and Okehampton to reach Launston. The view was stunning. A vast panorama which allowed you to see for miles with absolutely nothing in your way. The UK may only be a small island, but it’s amazing how much the landscape changes from one end to the other.

There was only one mishap along the way today. Bish’s tractor had problems with the back wheel which was put down to a leaky valve. They took the tractor to the local ATS where it was inspected and the valve core was replaced free of charge. (Many thanks to the guys a ATS!)

The Tractor Guys set off once again, but a short way down the road Bish’s tractor began to leak water again. They pulled into a lay-by on the A30 and pumped the tyre up and were then able to travel a further 25 miles to their destination and everything was fine. They’re spending the night with Hugh and Lindsey Pendray on a farm just past Liskeard. Yet another truly delightful place with lovely views. Tomorrow is the final day of The Tractor guys adventure – they’re expecting to reach Land’s End by mid to late afternoon!
