The day began early with an interview on BBC Hereford and Worcester. At 7.50am Bish and Tones chatted to presenter Jason Harrold telling him all about their exploits so far.
The Tractor Guys were treated like royalty at Eaton Hall. After a splendid breakfast they headed off towards Chepstow, but not before they had a couple of visitors who came to see the tractors and make a £60 donation. A further kind donation was made by Colin Andrews of Broadwood Hall on the outskirts of Leominster.
It was a cold day and it rained pretty heavily for most of the journey. It was a shame because the beautiful scenery of the Midlands was not seen to its best advantage.
The Tractor Guys took the road towards Ross to Monmouth and Tintern following the River Wye.
Again the beautiful Wye Valley was not seen to its best advantage which was disappointing, but despite the weather, the day took a turn for the better when the guys stopped at Tintern Abbey for lunch and were joined by Tones’ wife Ruth.
It was a celebratory lunch as it was Tones and Ruth’s 41st wedding anniversary! Also meeting them for lunch was Tone’s daughter Helen and baby granddaughter Lucy.
After a lovely lunch in the fabulous setting of Tintern Abbey, Bish and Tones set off again towards David Broome’s Equestrian Centre in Chepstow. They arrived at 3pm and were welcomed by David Broome and his wife Elizabeth who presented them with a cheque for £200.
They were invited to take part in the equestrian event by driving the tractors around the show-ring. An announcement was made over the tannoy to explain who they were and what they were doing and the whole event was filmed by MON-TV.
At the end of their lap of honour – David Broome awarded both of The Tractor Guys with 1st rosettes! Meanwhile back home in Shropshire – The Tractor Guy’s appeared on Midland’s Today. Tomorrow morning they’ll be heading off for Somerset and on Monday morning they'll be interviewed on BBC Radio Somerset’s breakfast show.
